[SH Street Chic] The Shanghai Fashion Week Edition

I hope you're just as excited as we are to unveil this special edition of the (hopefully still popular?) Street Chic FW 2025 – hold for applause. This time around, we're spotlighting 11 standout fashion week attendees and a few intentionally stylish passersby. I'll be breaking down their garment choices, accessories, and the clever stylistic tricks they've employed – so you might just pick up a few ideas for your own looks next season.

1. Yours truly, Tima Fei

Honestly, as a person gathering and curating people, I wasn't planning on being featured, so I truly wasn't prepared! (truth). But hey, that was the vibe – an unintentional serve and slay.

As we can see, that day I was going for something in between a Slavic bimbo and Italian grandma, both very popular aesthetics in recent years, especially on Instagram and TikTok, and as a consequence, the catwalks. A (faux) fur in a modern silhouette? Forever effective. Just pair it with something casual, like I did, or go full glam. However, going into the spring summer seasons, let's pay attention to the other standout piece, the scarf. Any beautiful long scarf can serve as fierce headwear.

It looks chic, doesn't completely ruin your hairstyle, and is more versatile than a hat or a cap, try it out.

2. The Dolls are the Dolls

Who says fashion week is only about what is currently trending on the runway? Fashion has always been about creativity and individual views on life and style, as we see right here. Do you want to dress up as haunted Victorian dolls? These two Xiaohongshu bloggers delve into this Lolita, Victorian child-like aesthetic quite often. They commit to their vision from head to toe, paying attention to every single detail. From the top of their false eyelashes to the bottoms of their shoes, they made sure to deliver a unique vision not only on fashion, but on life itself.

3. Tailoring is Key (Page)

Page here is showing that a good old clean classic silhouette is all you need to look stylish. A classic coat in any color, paired with a complementary turtleneck, is sure to elongate the silhouette and make you look put together. Page, a Donghua University student, did just that. As it was his first Fall/Winter fashion week he attended, he went in a simple, classic yet effective direction. Neutral colors will complement any skin tone and complexion, the key is to choose the right shade.

Darker colors, such as navy blue and dark greys, will sharpen your features and create more contrast. While lighter tones like camel, ivory, or lighter greys tend to soften and blur down sharper edges of our faces. Pick wisely.

4. Boho is Back, the Beautiful Violetta from Russia

First of all, let's commend this young lady for bearing with the cold and giving us a serve in her little checkered shirt. With recent runways from brands like Chloe and Blumarine, we saw a rise in bohemian chic fashion. "BohoChic" was also one of the most searched aesthetics on platforms like Pinterest, based on their data reports. Here we see a combination of a romantic shirt with a very bohemian layered skirt and a 70s-inspired belt, a favorite accessory of all Chinese bloggers last summer, by the way. She looks cute, great job on the makeup too, Tima Fei approves.

5. White Top Black Bottom

Black and white, a combination you can never go wrong with. Honestly, the most go-to among Chinese influencers and rich old ladies, for some reason, we like though. Simple, effective, easy to style. Here we see most of our attention going to this lovely girl's face, makeup, hair, and jewelry, crucial parts of a triumphant look. Her silver necklace goes well with the sequined purse and bedazzled tights. However, if you want to be a little more daring and fashion-forward, try mixing metals.

Gold, silver, they go well together. Recently, there has been a shift in jewelry trends to mixed, statement metals, giving more attention to the forms and shapes, a more modern approach.

6. Black Top White Bottom

Continuing the classic dressing theme, black and white is always right. Here we have a display of gorgeous textured hair, very clean makeup, and a practical achromatic outfit. She has layered a black cardigan with a black wasp-waist blazer, a very classic styling choice. However, underneath the outerwear, we see a more trend-conscious bubble skirt, a viral product from a season ago. This is a great way to bring some whimsy and girliness back to the more structured, serious outfit.

However, my styling tip when pairing shirt skirts (or shorts) with high, statement boots: if you don't have enough leg space between the skirt and the boots, especially if they are of a similar tone, you will make your leg seem shorter. A great way to avoid it is to mix in white- or off-white-colored socks that will peek right above your boots. That way we will create a pleasing contrast and make the whole look seem more intentional.

7. Genderfluidity keeps winning

Honestly, this is one of my favorites. What can I say, I love outfits that look intentionally slouchy and laid-back. It is giving a little Doctor Who with a touch of your favorite English professor, love it. She pairs a relaxed but not oversized white shirt with a greenish grey coat, which might even be a vintage find, judging by the looks of it. Simple, straight-legged jeans add some necessary structure to prevent the whole look from looking too "just out of the bed," plus, she found some amazing accessories to add to her outfit. A vintage-inspired pendant necklace goes incredibly well with the overall vibe, while thin-framed glasses add a touch of modernity and trendiness. Approved.

8. Layering Done Right

[SH Street Chic] The Shanghai Fashion Week Edition

If you were wondering how to layer clothes correctly, look no further. Here we have a perfect example that works for both fashion week and daily life. The formula for successful layering is simple, from thinnest to thickest. What do I mean by that? To put it simply, you start with your thinnest, lightest pieces of clothing, like tank tops, T-shirts or shirts. And you finish with your thickest, like sweaters, jackets or coats. You get extra points for incorporating hats, bags, ties or accessories! Here our young lady chose to layer a lovely cream coat on top of a contrasting blue shirt, creating depth in her look. She added a cute grey beanie and a dark grey leather crossbody bag, extra points received!
