A series of performances have been staged by Shanghai Yueju Opera Company at Wanping Theater to commemorate Yueju Opera master Jin Caifeng.

Jin, who passed away at the age of 92 in Shanghai last year, is the founder of the Jin vocal style.

Her representative plays such as "The Jade Hairpin" and "Hanwen Queen" were performed earlier this week by students of the vocal school.

Throughout her career, Jin vividly performed many roles on stage. She was adept at exploring and depicting delicate emotions of the characters.

One of the most impressive roles she presented was Wang Xifeng in the 1962 Yueju Opera film "A Dream of Red Mansions." The classic film and a box office hit in the opera film genre also stars Xu Yulan and Wang Wenjuan.

The artist once attributed all her achievements to the long-standing support from her beloved audiences.

Even after her retirement, Jin was dedicated to cultivating young talented performers. She also participated in multiple projects to preserve intangible cultural heritage of the country.
