Stage drama and city walk

Epic series "A Lifelong Journey" was a big winner at the recent 28th Shanghai TV Festival after receiving five awards including Best Chinese TV Series and Best Director.

From July 14 to 16 at Wanping Theater, the drama adaptation of the series will be staged with interactive events. During the time, audiences will have the chance to explore the backstage of the theater and chat with actors.

Starring Miao Chi and Li Xiaomeng, the drama is centered on the heartwarming stories of an ordinary family in northeast China over the course of five decades. Producers will also share stories behind each prop and setting to give visitors a glimpse into the historical periods.

The theater will also showcase local people's representative living goods from different eras to mark the tremendous social changes and development over the past decades. It also plans a city walk of iconic cultural venues. On the route from Wanping Theater to Changjiang Theater, time-honored architecture and flavored delicacies like dumplings will be introduced to visitors.

Audiences are encouraged to engage with the actors and become involved in the plot to find clues in "New World."

Immersive theater

Set against the backdrop of the Shanghai Film Park, the three-hour immersive suspense play "New World" is more than a traditional theatrical experience for audiences as the lively cultural IP also blends in games, tourism and food.

The interactive play has four primary narratives and 15 main characters to tell the story of Japan's troop withdrawal from Shanghai in 1945 after China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).

Audiences are encouraged to engage with the actors and become involved in the plot. Special prizes can be won if they help to discover new clues about the evil backstage manipulator.

The park, which is also an important shooting location for the Shanghai Film Group, has transformed its four villas, two theaters and a wharf into the country's first immersive theater hub, covering an area of 10,000 square meters.

Many sets in the play, such as the vintage café, tea house and dancing hall have also become fresh and exciting attractions of the park.

The "Luoyang" VR project

VR project

Since the popularity of the suspense drama "Luoyang," streaming platform iQiyi has developed films, documentaries and variety shows for the "Luoyang" cultural IP to highlight the diverse and historic charm of the Chinese city, one of the country's four great ancient capitals.

The virtual reality project is one of the most innovative and avant-garde attempts of this IP to elevate people's "cultural metaverse" entertainment experience.

The Luoyang VR project in Shanghai is the industry's first-ever all-immersive entertainment experience. Wearing VR glasses, players become ancient Chinese swordsmen with superb martial arts and their mission is to stop a conspiracy and disaster with their courage and wisdom.

They can totally engage in the plot and undergo varied challenges through fabulous settings and scenes. The physical experience of high winds, waterfalls, and explosions are all simulated within a physical space of 300 square meters. In addition to the "in-theater" experience, the project also provides Gen-Z and young millennials with dining, cosplay and photoshoot services.
