Zikawei Library

Zikawei Library has become one of the hottest places on social media since it opened on January 1.

With 18,650 square meters, five levels and nearly 800 seats, the library, designed by famous architect David Chipperfield, incorporates reading, exhibition and lecture, art appreciation, culture bazaar and tourist information service.

Zikawei refers to Xujiahui in Shanghai dialect.

Molihua Theater

Sitting in the People's Square, the 101-year-old Molihua (jasmine flower) Theater has reopened after two years of renovation. Formerly known as the Shenjiang Theater, it once set the highest box office record for "An Orphan Rescues His Grandpa," China's first ethical movie.

On March 3-12, French comedy show "Art" will be preseted at Molihua. The theater also plans to bring back classic shows like "Skylight," "Wilderness," "Every Wonderful Little Thing" and "Screw Up."

Space 185, Bund Art Center

Space 185 is the first spot in the Bund Art Center to open to the public, with 600 square meters, five exhibition halls and one multifunctional hall. The building that hosts it enjoys a history of 120 years.

The opening exhibition is titled "Greater Than Abstraction," bringing together eight artists from different eras and regions to present Chinese abstract art.

Pudong History Museum

After two years of upgrades, Nanhui Museum has been reborn as the Pudong History Museum. With 242 exhibits, the newly launched exhibition on Pudong's history and culture displays the past and present of Pudong that lie in the spirit of tenacity, inclusiveness and innovation of Pudong.

Dishui Lake Theater

The Dishui Lake Theater has over 4,000 square meters of space and 362 seats. It has lighting and stereo equipment to fulfill the multifunctional needs of stage shows, conferences and lectures. The theater, along with the Duoyun Books Dishui Lake branch, an art training center and an art exhibition center, will become a cultural symbol, serving the Lingang area and the Yangtze River Delta region.

Jinhai Wetland Science Museum

As the first wetland science museum, it will become a natural wetland education center. Through a number of scenes and scientific illustrations, the museum will present visitors with a different perspective of the wetland. With multimedia and immersive video technology, the tour will become more accessible and entertaining.

1927 Lu Xun and Uchiyama Memorial Bookstore

1927 Lu Xun and Uchiyama Memorial Bookstore is on Shanyin Road, a historically protected area.

The new bookstore covers the old Uchiyama Bookstore, the former Xinhua Bookstore and nearby spaces. The 800-square-meter new store features woodcut tools and paintings by Lu Xu, a celebrated Chinese writer. Also on display are vinyl records and classic movie posters.

Holy Trinity Church, Shanghai

Built between 1866 and 1869, Holy Trinity Church is the earliest existing Protestant church in Shanghai. In 2019, it was listed as one of the important historic units under national protection. After sitting for nearly 60 years, the church has finally reopened to the public.

MOHO

Situated in the core area of Jing'an District, the origins of haipai (Shanghai-style) culture, MOHO combines the "past" and "future," with the former site of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee standing at the entrance. The block home to MOHO is 120 years old and has a number of well-preserved shikumen (stone-gate) and alleyway houses.
