Rain doesn't stop visitors from attending the coffee festival.
Jazz, coffee and street art are taking over the city center as an annual coffee festival returns to Jing'an District.
The 2023 Shanghai Jing'an World Coffee Culture Festival started on April 29 on Anyi Road, a narrow lane that's tucked away in the Jing'an Temple area and known for pop-up pedestrian-only fairs. It will last till May 3.
The festival features 38 renowned coffee brands including Blue Bottle, %Arabica, Lavazza, GABEE, MQ Coffee, Black Sheep, DOE Coffee and Seesaw. There are also food carts selling beer by Boxing Cat, ice cream by Dal Cuore and Shanghai's signature snacks like shengjian (pan-fried pork bun) and congyoubing (scallion pancake).

As an upgrade, this year's festival is integrated with the district's jazz festival and theatrical extravaganza.
So, besides coffee tasting, also on offer is street performance "Mirror Walkers" by Czech artists and live jazz music presented by Little Happiness Trio, Kiva Trio, Bao Yichuan and other artists.
Moreover, there's a pop-up store of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," allowing Marvel fans to experience the latest episode of the Hollywood blockbuster series before its world premiere on May 5.
As a parallel venue, Starbucks' first overseas Reserve Roastery on Nanjing Road W. is holding a two-week ice coffee festival.
A jazz performance is staged at the opening ceremony of the coffee festival.
