The solo exhibition "Time Memory" presented by Hungarian artist áder Orsolya is currently underway at ROBOR NOVA.
It's part of the international artist-in-residence program by the Shanghai Art Century Museum, aiming to promote exchanges and visits among young artists and curators around the world.
Szilard Bolla, Hungarian consul general in Shanghai, delivered a speech at the opening: "This exhibition can be described with a Chinese idiom as 'a feast for the eyes (美不胜收).' áder Orsolya shines among young artists from Hungary, and her work captures her emotions and love for Chinese culture. I firmly believe that art can transcend time and space, and in the future, I hope to see more Hungarian artists come to Shanghai, China."
As an experimental artist with a pioneering style of abstract expressionism, Orsolya set out on a life journey to many countries since her childhood.
Coming all the way from Hungary to China, the convergence of time and space has provided her with diverse artistic contemplation. During her two-month residence at Shanghai Art Century Museum, Orsolya has personally experienced the profound historic and cultural heritage of Songjiang District.
She participated in a series of activities, including artist workshop, art fairs, musical performances, and a retrospective exhibition.
The local nature, society and cultural customs have bestowed upon her an artistic language rooted in the locality, connecting her diverse personal background with the path of cross-cultural communication on an international level.
"During this program, I received meticulous care from the museum staff and the community. Their kindness and attention to detail were touching, making me feel at home. The beautiful and tranquil scenery and atmosphere of Songjiang have greatly contributed to my artistic creation," she said.
"I feel like I haven't experienced a change in life for some time, but a new chapter is beginning from here, and it's on the way. My latest artwork, 'New Era,' represents a transformation in my artistic expression, with a completely different color palette compared to before. The inspiration comes from the scenery I see from the studio window. The legends about 'deer' in Songjiang have provided me with imagery inspiration. I want to depict the enchantment of the deer and the reverie it evokes, as they hold great significance to me alongside the greenery outside the window."
