A combination of intangible cultural heritage and popular IPs is bringing infinite fun for the upcoming Spring Festival holiday.
An intangible cultural heritage (ICH) art exhibition, along with a series of experience classes, was launched at the east branch of Shanghai Library in the Pudong New Area under the collaboration of Shanghai Library and entertainment giant Bandai Namco Holdings China Co Ltd.
The exhibition features exquisite masterpieces of inheritors of intangible cultural heritages, including Shanghai woolen needlepoint tapestry, Shanghai paper cuts and rubbings. However, unlike traditional intangible cultural heritage works, inheritors combined their superb skills with Spring Festival elements and popular IPs under Bandai Namco – Pac-Man, Taiko no Tatsujin and Tomagotchi – to create several innovative works.
At the same time, the special co-creation experience area at the exhibition site allows everyone to create a piece of intangible cultural heritage experience work and display it directly on site, fully exerting their creativity and interacting with traditional culture.
The "ICH Master Experience Class" activities are also being held along with the exhibition. Among them, the Shanghai woolen needlepoint tapestry experience course combines the characteristics of Shanghai embroidery – exquisite craftsmanship, varied needlework, and rich colors – with the Shanghai-style image elements in the Pac-Man IP.
