Fotografiska Shanghai is ushering in the Spring Festival in a unique way – three concurrent exhibitions along Suzhou Creek!
All We Have is Now
The latest solo exhibition by Swedish surrealist photographer and visual artist Erik Johansson invites audiences to embark on a surreal visual journey through his captivating and thought-provoking artworks.
Johansson masterfully blends photography with various creative mediums to construct seemingly real yet physically impossible scenes that defy the natural laws of our world. Grounded in photographic techniques and enhanced by digital manipulation, his works transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
In "All We Have is Now", he presents a new video series created specifically for the exhibition, extending profound themes from the fleeting nature of "the present" to reflections on "human existence" and "pressing environmental" issues through his surreal visual language.
One of the unique features of the exhibition is the dynamic presentation of selected works, which appear in intervals throughout the day, creating a constantly shifting dreamlike environment.
Animal Capital
Pets act as a mirror to humanity, reflecting our attitudes and thoughts. When we examine the interactions between humans and pets from an objective standpoint, these reflections become more evident.
As an extension of "The Pet Show" at Fotografiska Shanghai, "Animal Capital", the solo exhibition by local visual artist Wang Hanlin, uses "pets" as a starting point to examine humanity. The exhibition aims to explore the structure of human society through the observation of pets.
As a contemporary artist focusing on the exploration of human emotions and the documentation of the human psyche, Wang aims to investigate human ideologies through the study of imagery.
Over the past five years, the artist has observed and analyzed the playful interactions between humans and pets within family dynamics, among friends, and in social news.
Prix Pictet: Human
The Prix Pictet is the world's leading award for photography and sustainability and it presents its Human cycle in a comprehensive exhibition featuring 12 leading shortlisted photographers from countries such as the United Kingdom, Iceland, the United States, France and Poland at Fotografiska Shanghai.
The Prix Pictet was founded in 2008 by the Pictet Group with the goal of harnessing the power of photography to draw attention to the critical issue of global sustainability. To date, there have been 10 cycles of the award, each with its own theme highlighting a particular facet of sustainability.
Each of the 12 outstanding photographers' series constitutes a powerful exploration of the various facets of the theme Human. In their own unique way, each photographer explores our shared humanity and the vast spectrum of our interactions with the world.
