The graduation design exhibition of Tongji University's College of Design and Innovation has opened at the Yangpu riverside in Shanghai.
It is the first time for the college to host a graduation design exhibition outside the campus and open to the public.
The exhibition showcases the works of 125 undergraduate and 85 postgraduate students, encompassing disciplines such as visual communication, environmental, industrial, and product design. Notably, some projects incorporate artificial intelligence and data technologies.
Different from previous exhibitions, which categorized spaces based on disciplines, this exhibition divides the space according to design goals, tools used and implementation scenarios.
The spaces are named "Digital Valley," "Mirror Garden," "Ideal Country," "Dream Factory," and "Quiet Pavilion," to enhance the connection between the atmosphere and the exhibition.
Dean Hu Fei said that the exhibition, coinciding with Tongji University's 116th anniversary, symbolized a step into the "real world." It provided an opportunity to showcase the university's talent cultivation achievements and established a link between the university and the community.
In addition to the exhibition, there will be academic forums, brief speeches by graduates, and student markets. Some graduation defense sessions will be open to the public to observe.
The Green Hill in the southern section of the Yangpu riverside was originally a six-story tobacco company's machinery repair warehouse. After major renovations, it has been transformed into a popular industrial-themed attraction with a strong presence on social media.
